School Lunches
Here at North Somercotes CE Primary School we are passionate about serving our pupils fresh, tasty, nutritionally balanced meals. Our menus offers a combination of traditional and international dishes served with seasonal vegetables. We also have a salad bar with a choice of different salads daily. Fruit is always available, alongside delicious homemade bread, organic milk and yogurt. Our jacket potato option has also proved extremely popular with a delicious range of accompanying salads.
Our ethos is that lunchtime is a happy and sociable time and the children are encouraged to enjoy a calm and unhurried meal. All lunchtime staff are trained in food hygiene and are active in encouraging the children to try new foods.
Children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are eligible for Universal Infant Free School Meals and we encourage all children in these classes to have a school lunch.
We want all children to have an open mind about food, our menus are designed to tempt all ages to try new and exciting foods. Please help us by encouraging your child to try different foods, including vegetables, salads and fruit.
Please note we are governed by the School Food Standards. This includes measures on age appropriate potion sizes. Please speak with Miss Draycott or Mrs Selby if you have any questions.
We support local businesses and try to use a much local produce as possible. All our flour and milk is organic and we use free range eggs. All our menus meet food based and nutrient standards.
