‘Make your light shine so others will see the good that you do’
Each year 3 children from each key stage 2 class are chosen to represent the school in the school council. The children are chosen by their peers based on their responsibility and maturity to help make decisions in the school. The roles of the school council involve attending meetings and voicing any concerns or ideas their class mates may have. Help to organise charity events in school and raise money. They are also role models for the rest of the school and are on occasions required to represent the school outside of the school gates. Our recent events include organising events for Children In Need, and representing the school on our trip to London to visit the Houses of Parliament and learn about our British values.
Children in Need
The school council had the task of how the school marked Children in Need. We had a meeting and in the end the children voted to hold a Pudsey Fun Run and the money would go towards Children In Need. The children supervised and encouraged the younger children and were fantastic in organising a fantastic event. Well done school council!
Houses of Parliament
The School Council and the year 6 house captains travelled to London to experience the centre of democracy in our country. We visited the Houses of Parliament, where we had an amazing tour of the House of Commons and the House of Lords. We got to see over 1000 years of history, it was mind blowing! We then were lucky enough to see Downing Street and visit number 10. What a day we had!
Christmas Tree
The school council have decorated the school Christmas tree to give the school a festive atmosphere. I think you will agree Christmas is definitely here!
